Vanessa Castelli

  • Born in L’Aquila on August 20th, 1989. (ITALY)
  • After her master’s degree cum laude in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology at the University of L’Aquila, Italy, she spent some time abroad as Visiting Researcher. In 2016 at University of Birmingham, UK and then in 2019 at University of South Florida, Dept of Neurosurgery and Brain repair, Center of Excellence for Aging & Brain Repair (Tampa, USA). In April 2020 she got her PhD in Clinical Medicine.
  • From December 2020- present: Postdoc (Research Associate) at University of L’Aquila at Pharmacology and Neurobiology lab. She is teaching Pharmacology for the master’s degree students in Dentistry.

Despite her young age, Vanessa Castelli has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, including 17 as first author and 3 as last author in reputable journals such as Stem Cells Translational Medicine, Biomedicines, Cells, Aging, CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics and Translational Stroke Research.

Her research is focused mainly on Pharmacology and Neuropharmacology with particular attention on therapeutic approaches for chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain and brain repair.

She recently obtained a research funding responsibility; indeed, she is the Principal Investigator for the project “Spike protein effects on the biological processes and potential adjuvant therapy with Selective estrogen receptor modulators for COVID-19 vaccine”, July 2021-July 2022, funded by University of L’Aquila (“Progetti per Avvio alla ricerca”). She obtained also numerous Awards.
